LS polls Modi attacks DMK on drug menace, corruption, family rule, appeals to TN voters to give decisive mandate for NDA

Chennai, Apr 15 (UNI) Continuing his tirade against the ruling DMK's family rule in Tamil Nadu,Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday appealed to the voters to give a decisive mandate for the BJP-led NDA in the April 19 Lok Sabha polls.
Addressing an election rally in the southern Tirunelveli district to canvass votes for the BJP-led NDA
candidates, Mr Modi also touched upon the issue drug menace in the State.
He was apparently referring to the arrest of a DMK functionary Jaffer Sadiq, who has since been


expelled from the party, after his links with Rs 2,000 crore drug cartel was busted by the Narcotics
Control Bureau.
NCB quoting investigations said Sadiq, also a Tamil film producer, was the mastermind in the cartel
which had smuggled drugs to countries like Australia and New Zealand under the guise of grocery items like grated coconuts.
Recalling the immense contributions made by several freedom fighters who hailed from this part
of the State, the Prime Minister said that the BJP-led NDA had worked day and night for the development of Tamil Nadu for the last ten years and that people's dreams are his commitment.

"Your dreams are my commitment...We worked day and night for Tamil Nadu’s development in the past 10 years,” he added.
Hitting out at the DMK over the drug menace, Mr. Modi said the State is witnessing corruption of family-run party.
“The BJP will save younger generation from the deep-rooted drug trade in Tamil Nadu which is being done with the blessings of people in power,” he alleged.
Appealing to voters to give NDA an opportunity, Mr. Modi said that the State is set to create a new record by giving a decisive mandate to NDA in the Lok Sabha elections.“

"Your support is giving sleepless nights to DMK and INDIA alliance,” he said.
